Cotton-By-Post started as a mail-order business in 1994. After two years we opened a little (700 sq. ft.) shop with 375 bolts of cotton fabric in the village of Ailsa Craig, Ontario.

After seven years we were bursting at the seams and we needed to find larger premises. The Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce moved out of the village and put their large 5000+ sq. ft. building up for sale, so …… we bought the bank! I was worried that we wouldn’t be able to fill it but, three years later we had over 5000 bolts of cotton fabric, a large variety of notions, lots of books and patterns and two sewing machine dealerships - Bernina and Pfaff.

In September 2008 we expanded by opening a second shop in north London on Richmond Street specializing in Bernina sewing machines and sergers. I found running two shops to be very stressful so, in 2009 I sold the building in Ailsa Craig so that we could concentrate all our efforts in our North London location.

In December 2010, after many requests, we opened The Wool Boutique inside Cotton-By-Post. Slowly the yarn is taking over the entire shop!  We specialize in natural fibre yarns, especially Canadian dyers, such as Fleece Artist, Hand Maiden, Zen Garden, and Tanis Fiber Arts and many more.

We have now come full circle with the opening of our new online store!  The two main people who will be working on the online shop will be Suzanne and Christy.  If you have any questions please feel free to email either of us at: or and we will get back to you within 24 hours if not sooner.  You always welcome to give us a ring during shop hours at 519.854.0372.

If you are in the area you can always visit the shop at the Western Fair Artisans' Market, 900 King Street, London, ON.  We are open Thursdays from 10am - 3pm and Saturdays from 8am - 3pm.
