Bjorn Coordt is the artist behind HPKY. Bjorn grew up in Germany. Beginning in 1965, he worked through Journeyman and became certified as a Master Weaver, receiving the Distinguished Craftsman Certificate from the government's Cultural Affairs Department.. He also graduated with a Degree in Textile Design. He started his Handweaving Studio in Jena, Germany, just southeast of Leipzig in 1975.
While giving lectures, workshops and seminars in the U.S. Bjorn visited Connecticut and decided to stay here. He has now moved to Wentzville, Missouri where he has established his hand painted yarn business. He presented his yarns for the first time at the TNNA (The National Needlework Assoc.) show in Columbus Ohio in June of 2006 with great success.
All of us who have experienced his yarns love the richness of color and the feeling of quality that comes with each skein. Bjorn now presents 30 different yarn types in 40 different colorways, including two color spectrums, Pastel and Rich.
